Born at village Cheema near Sunam (Sangrur), Sant Ji devoted his life to spiritual regeneration and the education of the masses, establishing schools and colleges at a time when formal education was beyond the reach of most.
The educational mission at Gursagar Mastuana Sahib was started in 1920 by Sant Attar Singh Ji Maharaj. What began as a single institution has grown, over a century, into the AKAL Group of Institutions — five constituent colleges serving thousands of students from Punjab and beyond.
The campus is a unique blend of the sacred and the scholarly: the serene Gursagar sarovar and gurdwara sahib stand alongside classrooms, laboratories, libraries and playing fields. Students live and learn in an atmosphere of simplicity, seva and self-discipline.
The Group's colleges are affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala, recognised by the UGC under sections 2(f) and 12(b), and accredited by NAAC — while professional programmes hold approvals of NCTE and PCI as applicable.
To be a leading centre of value-based higher education in rural Punjab — where academic excellence, spiritual grounding and social responsibility grow together, fulfilling Sant Attar Singh Ji Maharaj's dream of enlightenment for every section of society.
To provide affordable, quality education across arts, science, agriculture, education, pharmacy, physical education and management; to nurture character, discipline and the spirit of seva; and to uplift the rural community through knowledge and skills.
Seva (selfless service) · Simar-an (mindfulness) · Simplicity · Discipline · Equality — education free from barriers of caste, creed and economic circumstance, exactly as our founder envisioned in 1920.
